As the title implies, the NAS boots and NSU connects to it successfully without HDD inserted.  When HDD inserted NAS system LED flashes then all LEDs come on, repeats.

Is the previously good HDD now dead? Can I do anything to recover the HDD?

thanks ;o)

I think you have 2 possibilities, the disk is dead, or the power supply is dying. This reboot behavior can also be caused by a power supply which doesn't have enough juice to spin up the disk.

OK, many thanks. I will try to check HDD in a caddy and also look at replacing power supply ;o)

Do you happen to know what Amps the supply needs to be rated at, in case it is not the original I have?

At the moment I have no access to a 325, but as far as I remember it's 3A @12V. If you are using only 1 disk, 2A should be plenty.
