Hello,
I have a very old NAS325 v2 (firmware NSA325_4.81(AAAJ.1)) which I still use, and recently one 3TB disk has died.
So I look for HDD replacement now and I wonder what is a max supported disk size for NAS325 v2 (firmware NSA325_4.81(AAAJ.1))?
On the other side - what would be your recommendation for HDD size so my old friend NAS325 v2 is not overloaded from CPU or Fan perspective?
Thanks, -a
PS and one more question - do you think it still make sense to invest in NAS325 disk replacement? what about firmware and security concerns?

The NAS325 v2 is end of life, for firmware and security concerns, you may consider to buy a new NAS.

As far as I know the only size constraint enforced by the firmware is the max ext3 filesystem size of 16TiB. So as long as you don't use 2 disk raid0 or jbod, any disks <=16TB should be fine.what would be your recommendation for HDD size so my old friend NAS325 v2 is not overloaded from CPU or Fan perspective? The disk size has hardly any impact on CPU usage or heat dissipation. I would only be concerned about memory usage (cache and filesystem databases), but fortunately the 325 has a lot of RAM.When you are concerned about security, it is possible to install OpenWrt or Debian on that box.0
