Dear all,

We have XGS4600-32 running.

Although using all the configuration saving options in the gui (save right top corner and configuration 1, 2 and default under management), after powercycling the VLAN settings are not as they were before reboot.

Is there any know issue or "special" procedure to store the config for the vlan settings?

    Hi @dmb

    Welcome to the forum.

When you run a command, the switch saves any change too its run-memory. The switch loses these changes if it is turned off or loses power.

Use the write memory command in enable mode to save the current configuration permanently to non volatile memory.

    Best regards

    Thanks Alfonso,

we 'enabled' the switch, then we applied write memory after all settings were done, but still after reboot, the vlan config is the old one that was active before the changes were applied...

Especially this customer has a lot of issues now since he has regular powerouttages.. UPS is now being installed but that should only cover outtages, no config losses..

    Hi @dmb

    Welcome to Zyxel community!

For starters, may I know what version of firmware you are using for the XGS4600-32?

Since there are two config files in the switch, please make sure you save (write memory) in correct config and reboot with the same config as well.

You can check what config you are currently using in Management -> Maintenance.

    Dear Lucious,

the unit has been updated before configuration to the latest firmware on your website. We checked last week, that is still the actual version.

The configuration used is config one but we also tried config 2, custom default etc.

It is not that nothing is stored, it is that the changes in VLAN settings are not memorized correctly. (So it seems the VLAN related items of the config are not stored well, others are).

How to move on, what is the way to escalate, debug this?

    Hi @dmb

If that's the case, can you share what exact VLAN setting been lost after rebooting? (before/after)

Please provide the complete config file if possible, so we can try replicating the issue in our local LAB.

    Thanks.

    Hi @dmb

There is an issue that if the version gap between two firmware images on switch is too big, for example, image 1 is 4.60 / image 2 is 4.40, the config synchronization mechanism may go wrong after reboot.

So, please check your firmware version of both images and upgrade them to the latest one and see if your problem resolves.

    Hopefully it helps.

    Hi Lucious.

    Firmwares were 4.60 and 4.50

Upgrading to both 4.60 didn't fix the issue..

    Attached are both logs.

    Please share next steps.

    Hi @dmb

    Thanks for the feedback.

We've used your config and the same firmware which is V4.60(ABBH.0) + V4.50(ABBH.1) in our local LAB, and add a new VLAN 60 for test and then reboot the switch, but everything looks fine with no VLAN configuration missing.

Are our test steps correct as your situation? If not, please describe in more detail/specific.

    Sincerely,

    Hi @dmb

We notice that CLV is enabled in your configuration, but CLV is designed for CLI command only.
If you prefer to able to use both CLI and WEB together, we suggest that you could disable CLV, and use Zyxel command line. So that you could configure VLAN via WEB and CLI together.

    Thanks.
