  • It probably would. But I don't know how many adjustments are made and I'd prefer a fresh start. Sounds like an interesting challenge. If I get tired of OMV I might give that a try... but not this year anymore. Is there a way to select an answer as solution when you previously chose "no"? I'd like to select this…
  • One more thing off topic: I wanted to try it and I'm gonna keep using it for now, but I'm not so sure whether I like OMV. I mean it sure is convenient and I guess it is a big help for lots of people but I'm used to have full control over my OS. Do you by chance know if there's a pure minimal debian image for NAS542? Best…
  • You're absolutely right. I forgot to mention that. I've planned on using it, but I didn't get a good result when I connected the reference voltage. I also noticed that I've uploaded same picture for 5 and 6 though I made different ones. But I guess nobody will have any difficulties spotting that screws.
  • FYI: 1. most obvious 2. disconnecting the fan will cause the stock os to beeb constantly 3. don't miss those 4. remove the larger part of the case by pushing it carefully to the front 5. remove these 6. and the same on the other side 7. you could reach the pins from here 8. I've changed the pins of a…
  • You're right, it's just that. Thanks for the hint. 1510: /bin/sh /usr/local/bin/zy-ready 1520: /bin/sh /sbin/buzzerc -t 1 Regards
  • Mmmh, the format of the last post went wrong again... is it maybe possible that a code block must not end with a zero??? Code block that ends with the number0 Text after the code block.
  • Ah ofc, that figures. Thanks. I have a suspicion what might have caused the issue: I've just install debian and updated the kernel. Everything went fine so far. But after I've changed the hostname, the domain and the workgroup in the openmediavault configuration and rebooted I couldn't connect anymore and I suddenly…
  • Excellent! The stock os is working fine now!!! /usr/local/btn/reset_and_reboot.sh Did the trick! I did. Thanks so much for this info. It was very unnerving to operate like that. Now I've dumped all nand partition. Once at the initial state, then again with the working stock ok and finally after I've upgraded the firmware…
  • Attached is a complete log of booting without an sd card. After the boot was complete I've used the console to fix the file that caused most of the error messages, but it didn't make much of a difference. The machine kept on beeping and was not reachable from the network. I've removed repeaded error messages from the log.
  • Damn, the format went wrong. But after what happened the last time I don't want to edit a post anymore.
  • Since I can't boot the stock kernel using tftpboot, I've removed my sd card and booted the device. Then with constant beeping I've poked around a bit. The only command I've found that seemed to match the description was nanddump. # /sbin/nanddump Usage: nanddump [OPTIONS] MTD-device Dumps the contents of a nand mtd…
  • tftpboot doesn't seem to be available at my barebox version (see attached file containing output of help). It wasn't easy to find a way to make the tftp download working. Especially because after a certain amount of time in barebox-mode my device is automatically rebooting. I only have a few moments to try things out. I…
  • How would I backup the falsh partitions and does it make sense to do so in the current state? I was hoping that I could get the stock OS running again first, then maybe upgrade the firmware in a save environment and after that try to install debian once more. If I boot without any sd card it does nothing but beeping. My…
  • Now I've switched the firmware doing Barebox-C2K >/ env/bin/b1 And then after the boot # /firmware/sbin/info_setenv next_bootfrom 1 like chrismxnr wrote in his post. After that my device is booting again. It's still not functional though... When I start it up with no disks attached, it keeps beeping and even though…
  • The usb2serial finally arrived! This seems to be the most interesting information that I've got so far: booting kernel of type uimage from /dev/nand0.kernel2.bb Verifying Checksum ... Bad Data CRC Failed. booting kernel of type uimage from /dev/nand0.kernel1.bb ERROR: out of memory Here is the complete log:…
