  • Bonnie_lass, you can upgrade to the latest firmware, but to be safe doing a hard reset and a reconfigure of the entire system is advisable if you are skipping lots of firmware revisions etc. Upgrading asap with new firmware is not advisable unless you have to upgrade for some reason and the unit is working fine. However if…
  • JohnRouter, have you tried doing a hard reset with the reset button ? Is it only the LAN ports that do not work, any lights when you hook up a computer to it ? Also you could have a flaky AC DC adapter. Not that common but could happen ? I know I was concerned with how HOT to the touch the ethernet chip gets when the…

  • Seikouri Please do check the video here on Zyxel, how to configure WLAN. It is not that easy to do the configuration, plenty of steps to go though to set it up proper. I know I hade issues with that but with the video help guide I was able to understand the process. Once you have checked everything is as it should be,…
  • SoloReaver, Classic issue. You need to configure the FTP client software to use "passive mode" PASV because otherwise your connection is a "active mode" FTP session and that does not work, for the most part through a firewall. With active mode, you always get stuck at the same line, getting directory listing and nothing…
  • Good news everyone. I have now resolved the issue. I did some investigation and I decided to switch over to DHCP instead as I have no specific need for a static configuration. And suddenly the SNTP function worked. I did not change firmware or any other setting, only moved the switch over to DHCP. I upgraded to the v2.40…
  • Chris2404, if you unplug the switch from the network, no cables connected, and have you then tried the reset button. So you can reset the router and then reconfigure it or hook it up to the network. Does it still reboot ? Also have you tried other ports, I do not know how many things you have connected but the switch does…
  • ansani, can you test the unit with another AC adapter. You could have a faulty power supply. Make sure it is the save 12 volts, and minimum same amps, or more. Also check the polarity so you do not make any mistakes. Otherwise is sounds like you could have a faulty unit and you should return it or exchange it for a new one.
  • Thanks for feedback, I will have to get back to you. As the switch is in a remote location I can not get to it easy, but I will check if I missed out on anything and get back to you with the findings. Also I will provide a list of the NTP servers I could not get working. So that Zyxel can check to see if there is anything…
  • Because of multiple reports of serious problems with Firmware v4.30 it is better to stay with 4.25 as I have done, if you have critical equipment etc, and let others try out v4.30 and report the problems. Nothing important was fixed, upgraded or solved in v4.30 for me and I will not upgrade since my USG 60W is working…
  • SeaHawk, check that you are running on the 4.30 firmware as there are two firmwares you can use in this Zyxel. Also you should do a reset using the button on the unit and removing any left over configurations. And remove any scripts uploaded to the unit. Of course once this is done you have to configure the unit from…
  • I am doing a short followup to this post. Conclusion, no reboot function is needed in the web interface, scripting was so easy and the FAQ had all the information I needed. Would still be nice with that additional reboot button but now that I know my firewall reboots once every month I do not need to worry any more that it…
  • Thanks for the reply. I am happy with the reply. I also noticed the request in that section. Again it is not like I need to reboot the firewall all the time, but it would be nice if the firewall could reboot by it self every 30 days or something like that. Just to prevent anything from freezing or going bad over time.…
  • Yes, thanks. Reboot option to prevent user error with firmware section of the firewall, and schedule function for rebooting the device after time, days etc. You can use a script but I think it would be great if you had a limited version of this in the GUI. Reboot after time, days, last day of every month etc. Would be nice…
  • Horia, ah glad I could help. You buy the product you need, I just thought it would be good to know that there are limitations to the products. Of course a expensive "top of the line" products is going to have great performance compared to cheaper products. The main reason for me to point this out is that in some regions in…
  • Claus_Kysthusene, sound strange. I know that you get the "wizard" popup when you login to the product, but you can just click "exit" or "skip" to bypass the "Setup Wizard" and you will get the dashboard window. But this might require you to keep the product in "expert mode" once you have configured it, I do not know…
