Let me guess: firmware customized by Wind/Infostrada. Looking at figure 159, page 268 of the manual, the checkbox for ping (wan) looks enabled.
-
Try in maintenance / remote management / Mgmt services, and enable ping (WAN).
-
Firmware version? I know you can already use a Wind/Infostrada-branded one with another ISP (e.g. Tim).
-
I'm on a Wind FTTC, so I think you'll have to set it up as any non Tim-branded modem, but it should be pretty straightforward.
-
Which model? 8823 or 8825?
-
Yes. I've read of people using it on a TIM FTTC.

There is this minor inconvenience still unresolved: https://homeforum.zyxel.com/discussion/2065/vmg8823-web-gui-access That aside, I was just curious about a possible firmware update :)
-
A bit off topic: is there a scheduled update (on June) for VMG8823 as well?
-
Could you try using sftp instead of ftp? IIRC you need to enable ssh in remote management.
-
Try disabling "network settings / wireless / mesh".

You have to use a dynamic DNS. Only your ISP (Wind) could provide you with a static IP address; but maybe this option is available for business customers only.
-
Check if it is available on the Netgear, instead of ftp.

Hi Genius19,I have both "Configurare IP Originario" unchecked and "IP sorgente" blank. Also, keep in mind that I'm using sftp. If you have to use ftp, as Mijzelf pointed out, check whether you need to forward a whole range of ports.

Hi Genius19, if you go to Network setting / NAT / Port forwarding / Add new rule or Edit existing rule, you should find the "Server IP Address" field.Set it up with the Netgear ip address. For example, my setup is like this:Internet --- Zyxel --- (raspberry pi + usb hdd) The raspberry pi runs a ssh/sftp server; remote…

Can you try this, please? 1. from LAN, can you access the hd via ftp (using port 5000)? 2. instead of using DMZ, try setting 192.168.1.254 in NAT rule; can you access via ftp from outside (still using port 5000)?
