  • Many thanks for your patience, but still no luck. I am away from my uk system (in France) currently but shall explore further with wireshark on my return in a few weeks. Most likely I shall use a remote power switch to wake the PC. ( I am assuming there should be no WoL problems with a Dell Vostro, as it is referenced in…
  • Many thanks for your support. I have tried via IoS phone using WOL CONTROL. This reports a Runtime Error; "application error occurred on server". SBG seems to be blocking. I have opened Ports 7:9 UDP/TCP to the dormant PC address. is this correct procedure?
  • Thanks for comments, but I have followed all the text book stuff, I believe. A thought though: my two PCs ( on different WANs) both have Norton NIS active - could this be the source of my difficulties?
  • Hi Stanley - thanks for your guidance. I did follow all of those settings (1-3) but without success. I am currently forwarding port 9 udp to the PC address. If I use Teamviewer, it does not wake. If I use a WoL app, should I use a broadcast address (192.168.1.255) or the specific IP address 192.168.1.12.
  • How about: We have had a problem for some time, when we connect to the hotspot wifi network, the captive portal window no longer opens, instead a warning page appears. If you have a solution thank you.
  • Sorry to see that SBG3300 support for SMBv2 will not be afforded. No prospects?
  • I bought another used SBG unit, but when I tried to upload my latest former config. files it replied 'illegal...'. I tried with older configs. and one worked. I then updated to latest fimware (I don't recall the f/ware supplied) and all is well; my former settings including ipsec vpn all up and running now, thanks. Just…
  • Thanks for the support, Charlie.
  • Many thanks. I understand that SMB1 is disabled as a security precaution; does this mean that I should not access my USB data via the SBG3300?
  • My ISP sends 55 Mb/s to the house socket. What reduction in processing speeds might I expect with a 'busy' SBG3300 (NAT, ACL, Firewall, WiFi, IPSec VPN)? Any experiences?
  • Thanks for the comment Jeremylin - yes, the SBG3300 works pretty hard with Cameras and site-to-site , VPN, FW, ACL etc. The ISP is sending me their latest vdsl2 modem to try. Should I be able to connect this directly to the WAN port with no other changes just to try the effect on throughput speeds?
  • Solved - Norton (NIS) protecting remote Win device from ICMP echo (Ping) requests.
  • A follow up, if I may: Following ZyXel KB (https://kb.zyxel.com/KB/searchArticle!gwsViewDetail.action?articleOid=010549&lang=EN#), SBG3300 - ZyWall IPSec vpn connection is successful. I can open the remote ZyWall and use Remote Desktop to open PC on remote lan, which was my objective. Out of curiosity, why can I not use…
  • Many thanks for your forebearance! I checked the remote server via TeamViewer and found I could connect out site2site but not in reverse direction. Investigating the FW, I found VPN to LAN and WAN not authorised by wizard; hence the problem. All now resolved, thanks! Jeff
  • Hi Charlie - sorry about delay in responding. Now at the Fr remote site attempting site2site. The Zywall 5 (192.168.0.50) here is behind Router in bridge mode. The remote UK site (80.229.172.170) is the sbg3300. Connecting to the ZyWall using local PC (192.168.0.12). Connection fails with log as shown below: I can connect…
