Remotely diagnose, upgrade, configure and reboot without setting up VPNs is a time saver.

I've seen a great deal of support for IPv6 this year amongst the ISPs I use and more websites going that way. I have also configured all my Firewalls to use IPv6; much easier to access devices like switches etc without needing VPNs. (provided good rules are in place and using https!) Not having IPv6 feels like a backwards…

Thanks Stanley, I think it is a question of interpretation - and the way you describe is not the same as the user guide! Option 1: Ticking the Enable IP/MAC Binding means that devices listed in the static DHCP Bindings list will get the listed IP address, those not in the list will get a random IP from the pool but will…

Hi Dan, Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I'm convinced it is a bug, only seen is on the USG3xx series (not 60's 100's) and I have found an answer. If you uncheck MAC/IP Binding, it still binds MAC addresses to their corresponding IP addresses if you have entries in the list - i.e. turning off the binding actually…

Hi Derek, That almost works! However, the manual shows that the port isolation blocks all VANs, whereas private VLANs can be set in a VLAN-specific way. We wold only want to isolate data traffic (VLAN100) not management traffic (VLAN1) - sorry I didn't make that more clear. I think the answer lies in the way Private VLAN…

Hi Sakura_T Thanks for the reply. You are right; the client PC (Windows 10) has the 802.1X (Wired) authentication enabled and I get the popup on my laptop screen. The USG has users populated and the Wireless authentication works as expected. When I check the USG logs I don't see any entries regarding authentication…

Here is a thought, which you may have already considered. Between switches I guess you allow all VLANs between them, and have set them as "Trunk" Ports - so any traffic can flow freely between the switches (as if they were one big switch). On the two GS1920-48 ports that connect to the USG - I would not set them as trunk…

I have a couple of USG60Ws that I still have on FW 4.25 - when put onto 4.30 they just kept crashing and rebooting every 10-30 minutes. ZyXEL supports answer was to send a replacement (older) unit which I sent back - I now just don't trust firmware updates from them until I see lots of good reports. So I spend my time…

Hi Alfonso, Thanks so much for your reply. I should clarify. The phones and computers are each connected to switch ports (ie PCs don't piggy back off phones). What we do see is that the firewall has a LAN1 with no VLAN (although it's all tagged PVID = 1 in the switches for the purpose of management of those devices. in the…

+1 for a wizard on the USG allowing easy setup with Let's encrypt.

Hi ZyXEL_Ryan, Apologies for the slow response; I was gathering info from multiple customer sites. The GS1920-24 all looks happy and I tested with V4.50 firmware... very happy! I'm having problems still on the GS1900-8 using FW 2.40. It does seem to be DNS related though. I've tried both the USG Firewall IP for DNS1 and…

I get the same problem. When using Static IP and even having DNS1 & 2 as 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS) and I try to use a hostname, Chrome just shows "waiting for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" and it will never save a domain NTP address such as uk.pool.ntp.org. As I would prefer to have my switch addresses static than have accurate…
