Well, it is looking more and more like I won't be installing it on my NSA325v2 either. So far flashing from usb, tftp and kwboot are failing. It does not seem possible to flash a new uboot onto my device. No idea why. No solution to be found anywhere yet :( I am considering giving up, but if I do I need to upgrade SMB, but…

Uh, OpenWRT sounds pretty tempting.I once wanted to try it on a router I owned but it had too many downsides for that particular model. But for the NSA325v2 it sounds interesting. I ordered an FTDI adapter to give it a shot. What puts me off a bit is the comment, that the u-boot.kwb from 19.x.x release is bugged and won't…

Activate them in the packages menu or activate them by basically following the installation process again? To be honest, I would not mind deleting everything except my data. So deleting all packages, all settings, all everything from stock and add-ons/repositories.Would it be sufficient to perform a factory reset and then…

Hello Mijzelf, thank you for checking this for me. I have now returned home from my business trip and can finally tackle this topic. So judging by the script, I need to leave my drives installed to properly reset my NAS? And I won't lose your repository? Or will I lose that? I checked /etc/exports and I would be able to…

I was not even aware that OpenWRT was available for my NAS. Can I flash back to stock firmware/OS if it turns out to be a poor decision?

I wanted to clean up all of the shares by removing them. But when I do so via the UI (for which the UI is for), then I get told that I will lose all my data.So I was thinking of doing so by factory reset but removing the drives first, because I thought that might also wipe the data (I vaguely remembered reading it once).…

Hmm, my edit got deleted. So I will write it again. The certificate had expired. I used this guide to create a new one:https://support.zyxel.eu/hc/en-us/articles/360011611160-How-to-regenerate-original-self-signed-certificates-on-NAS-series-storage Works now. But I cannot find a lot of possibilities to make the built-in FTP…

Update:I managed to get off work a bit earlier today and used my extra time to check out the FTP problem again. The certificates had expired.I thought that these would be somewhere inaccessible, but turns out I could just follow this…

Hmmm. I once deleted a share and I could have sworn that the folder itself was gone afterwards. I will try this. Because I am pretty sure that when you select to delete a share it also asks if you are sure you want to do that because all data will be erased as well. Or is it just safe when you delete the entire package but…

Hmmm, but it definitely works to open and search files that are only shared via FTP with Kodi. Kodi it will play, seek in and do anything you want with that file. And the device most definitely does not download the files (I have that setup on an old Fire TV stick, which has basically no local memory). Plus, for pure…

It does not remove the data, but I thought that after a reset, you would have to re-initiate the drives which then wipes them. Can you just reset and then the drives will be recognized again? I want to remove all share information also. Because the drives have lots of dead shares listed in the GUI and I am not sure if…

What about FTPS? Would that not be even more secure?
