I had the same issue trying to recover data, looks like back up failed to complete. You will probably notice there isn't a file tree list when recovering. You could try using the command line tool 'disk archive' I haven't had any luck with it yet. I can recover with it completed back ups but not incomplete ones

I have had exactly the same thing occur to me on the 14th of October. I have a separate backup on another drive, trying to recover this at the moment.
