  Did 'get /proc/mdstat' show the expected output? Strange. What keeps sdc1 busy? Unless it is automagically re-added to the array by the firmware after you removed it, I wouldn't know.

  Try a factory reset. That wipes the internal flash storage.

  Press the reset button until it beeps. That will reset the admin password to 1234, and the IP address to DHCP.

  If you are comfortable with the Linux command line, here you can find instructions how to install an (Open)VPN server on fw 5.0x. The client is the same binary, only using a different configuration.
