it seems there were two files blocking start of SAMBA in /opt/var/run I mentioned that files in this post. And yes, these prevent the Entware samba from starting, after having stopped firmware samba.…1 -

AFAIK the firmware uses a python script to send mail. But I never looked close enough to it to isolate that function. You can install Entware-ng and then install msmtp1
