  • After removing the old disk, you'll have to reboot, to 'promote' the new disk to system disk. But you probably already switched the NAS off to remove the old disk.

  • Strange. The package contains only two files: /opt/etc/init.d/S09ZyXELSambaReplacement and /opt/etc/samba/ZyXELSambaReplacement.conf. That's it. Don't see what it matters to reinstall these. There is no init script which sets things up. The only 'nasty' thing is in /opt/etc/init.d/S09ZyXELSambaReplacement, on start it…
  • You can move the 4TB to the first slot, but you don't need to. The NAS doesn't care in which slot the disks are. If you have two disks, and swap them (with the box off, off course) it will still recognize and use them.

  • Unpack the .zip file. There is a large .bin file inside, which you can upload using the webinterface of the NAS.

  • If you have installed packages they will be gone. They are installed on a hidden part of the 3TB disk. Further the new volume is a new volume, which means that you'll have to re-assign shares. The old shares point to the 3TB disk which is no longer there.

  • Yes, why not? There are 2 options, AFAICS, creating a raid1 array of that 3TB disk and a 4TB disk. That can only be done if the current volume on the 3TB disk is not incompatible with raid1. The other way is to create a new volume on the 4TB disk, and copy everything over. (Preferably using the filebrowser in the…

  • The Tweaks package has an option to shutdown the NAS on inactivity. If that is still installed, but doesn't work anymore, have a look at the status of the Shutdown Daemon. It should tell why it doesn't shutdown the box.
  • My bad. I overlooked the 'dirname' on line 485: local MIJZELF_URL=$( dirname $( dirname ${PKG_DOWNLOAD_URL} ) )/Entware-ng/binaries/${CURARCH} It calls dirname twice, which means it strips the last two subdirectories from the URL. So http://zyxel.diskstation.eu/Users/Mijzelf should be…
  • Drivers? There are no drivers. You can find the latest firmware here, but that is rather old.

  • Don't know. What did you try, and what happened? BTW, I don't know if the ancient version 2.82 will still work in 2024, but that is unrelated to the possibility of installing it.
  • The reference to downloads.zyxel.nas-central.org is in /usr/local/zy-pkgs/etc/init.d/Entware-ng. It is supposed to be exchanged by MetaRepository to the origin of the Entware package, but that fails when the package was cached. (Then MR doesn't know the origin). You can change it in the script, at line 23, (it should be…
  • Did you edit /opt/etc/samba/ZyXELSambaReplacement.conf or /etc/samba/smb.conf? The most obvious reason for this error is that the file contains UTF8 encoding, of course.
  • You can try to set the default gateway manually, to see if it lasts longer, in that case. su route add default gw 192.168.1.1 egiga0 Another option is to plug the network cable in the other port. I have no idea if that matters, as I still have no idea what is actually going wrong. /Edit: Internet went down? Did that change…
  • It's a bug. The ZYPKGS file specifies the filename to be myZyXELcloud-Agent_0.0.15_arm_0015.zpkg, but there is no such file, on the site it's called myZyXELcloud-Agent_0.0.15_arm_0015_325.zpkg. A work around is to use the local repository on your NAS. As you can see in the MetaRepository webinterface you can use the…
  • Yes there is. In the webinterface there is a 'reset to factory defaults' option. But I suppose you have no access to the webinterface due to lack of password? In that case it becomes more complicated. One option is to use an 'Universal usb_key_func thumb'. Download the zipfile and read the embedded readme. The 'telnetd'…
