Can anybody confirm they can reach their device on the management IP through another router?
-
@Serhii Boiarynov, you are apparently the author of the article, can you please help
-
it is possible, and in fact what this product is supposed to be useful for, but having gone down a similar route, with a Synology router I wouldn't recommend it for several reasons. First performance is poor compared with other 5G modems, second it's physically much more cumbersome to install, third configuration to be…

You're right, that zyxel sells the NR7101 as 5G 'router', but it has very limited routing capabilities and protections (including firewalls) That is why I would do it the other way round than suggested above. i.e. NR7101 -> router -> switch -> other devices Your NR7101 provides internet to your router, which decides how…

It's here:
-
Yes, that should do it
-
You'll need a router to deliver the NR7101's internet to more than one device. A switch alone won't do it.

Thanks for your suggestion. Synology RT6600ax does not have a UI like yours (no next hop options). We can only add static routes like this: The UI allows for 2 internet connections like this: NR7101 is plugged into 'Primary Interface'. (ZTE 5G modem is in the Secondary 'LAN1'). The mode of operation is set under 'Smart…

Why not?

If you unplug the WAN with the modem then you can connect to Management No, it makes no difference if the other modem is plugged in or not, as soon as the NR7101 is plugged into (any) router port, it cannot be reached via it's ethernet cable. you can't access Management of NR7101 unless your able to make a routing rule.…

@monty03 With 192.168.2.1 as the network destination in your static route, what did you set as the netmask (255.255.255.255?) and gateway?
-
your router does not have another WAN port as in your current WAN is to another ISP? The Synology router has 2 WAN ports, one is connected to a modem which serves internet to the LAN. The NR7101 is connected to the other as a backaup/failover. DHCP on the NR7101 is indeed disabled no I mean on your Synology router then…

DHCP on the NR7101 is indeed disabled. The PC has a static IP on 192.168.1.x (same subnet as the primary router). I don't know what you mean by "because you connect the NR7101 to your LAN and not to a another WAN" . In pass through mode, the NR7101 is connected to a WAN (Vodafone's in my case) and is supposed to 'supply it…

@PeterUK In my case and @monty03 we have NR7101 in IP passthrough mode. When I connect directly to NR7101 (via it's LAN port on t's PoE adapter) it can be reached using whatever IP address is set under 'default' (e.g. 192.168.x.x). That is not what is showing as the IP Cellular Info configuration page. There it shows its…

@PeterUK I'm afraid you're still assuming a sophisticated level of technical network knowledge. I'm trying to follow, but struggling. I think some of what you're saying is that most mobile internet service providers / network operators (e.g. Vodafone/O2) provide an IP address that is behind Carrier Grade Network Address…
