  • If Port 1 is your uplink port to your VLAN-Aware router, then you'll need to set up Port 1 correctly. In your images, you only show 1 VLAN assigned to Port 1. Port 1: VLAN1, Untagged and VLAN2, TAGGED. « Carries both VLANs into your switch Port 2: VLAN1, Untagged, PVID1 « Untagged access to VLAN1 for your PC. Port 8:…

  • I can confirm this behavior on both the GS1900-8HP (Serial number starting S1), and the GS1900-16. Rolled back to previous firmware for the time being.
  • For some time now, the GS1900 switches have had login issues when using Firefox, and to some degree, when using Edge. Navigate to the login page for your switch using Edge, and then select "Reload in Internet Explorer Mode". This seems to fix most issues with the GS1900 web interface.
  • 1.) There are probably 12, maybe 14 IP phones, and 1 (former) UniFi AP AC Pro. 2.) Couldn't tell you if the access point was rebooting at the time; but since every phone in the office was power-cycling, it's probably a safe bet. 3.) All of the phones were simultaneously shutting off, then powering back up for a second,…
  • I also have to report a similar issue that started several days after moving to 2.70(AAH0.0) on a GS1900-48HP rev A1. One evening, all of the IP phones in our office started power-cycling themselves in arepeating loop, with about 1-second intervals. I restarted the switch, and all seemed to be well again. . . until a few…
  • Although many of the consumer-grade routers support a "guest" networkfor WiFi, I don't see many of them out there that support traditional VLANS. An inexpensive option would be to get a Ubiquity EdgeRouter X,which can handle multiple VLANS, and can provide the isolation that you need.Although the EdgeRouter is extremely…

  • I have GS1900-48's at work, and a GS1900-16, and GS1900-8HP at home, and so far, they have been solid performers. Granted, the GS1900 series doesn't offer a plethoraof options, like you'd find on the Cisco SG200 series of switches, but is more than up-to-the task of handling multiple VLANS,Telephony OUI, and a variety of…

  • I work in a GS1900 environment, so it's a little different for me. If you're interconnecting two network switches, and simply trying to carry multiple VLANS across them, then just set up each interconnecting port just like this - VLAN1, PVID1, UntaggedVLAN100, TaggedVLAN200, TaggedVLAN300, Forbidden. . .etc . . . Anything…

  • You didn't really say how many ports you needed. . . . These days, I wouldn't even mess with a switch with 10/100 ports,unless you're buying something used. I'm assuming that you don't need power-over-ethernet. . . GS1200-8 (without the HP). . . $40 or so on-line. 8 ports, gigabit, managed.GS1900-16 $85 or so on-line. 16…

  • Do you have actual equipment at the addresses listed above? If it were just a few addresses, I'd suspect some sort ofleft-overs from networked printers or file shares. These seem to be incremental ARP broadcasts though. My first thought would some sort of port-scanning malware,so you could probably start there with a…
  • I meant to ask you about something you mentioned early on. . .Where did you read that it was better to have static IP addresses on the phones, versus using DHCP to assign the IP addresses to the phones? Also. . . which codec are you using? 729a ?
  • On our switch at work, we have the Voice/VLAN/QOS settings as follows - And. . .
  • Some preliminary questions - 1.) Is the voice quality bad all of the time, or does it get worse with network activity? 2.) The NEC phone system - where are your incoming phone lines coming from? Do you have "real" phone lines, or something brought in digitally? 3.) What if you call another extension in your office; is the…
  • Hmmm. "Set DNS directly". . . on the PC's? I was under the impression that the PC's were on VLAN1,and were already working correctly.
  • It looks like you should be able to create a DNS server serviceon the FortiGate, and then assign the listen-on interface to be"VLAN for Voice" Then, you should be able to manually set your VLAN2 devicesto use 192.168.2.1 as their DNS server. (The only way to automatically apply it to all deviceswould be via DHCP, of…
