  • well Im still using my original router/modem XMG3927-B50A which was bought as new off the shelf and not locked. Still no problems but I then wanted a back up router so could install back into my system straight away if any problems. Like I said managed to get a chap who unlocked one and I can install same firmware. It all…
  • its ok all sorted cheers though
  • yes after having a play with the settings it does seem to be the max. It does seem low when you think how many devices you can have in a normal house now, 10 or so yrs ago might have been enough but now not enough
  • Have you tried Open DNS you can try that with the settings changed on your router to OpenDNS and config` the settings on the OpenDNS home page/account. You can block out some web sites, have a look at this
  • any update on this same question………….
  • connected it all up this 2nd hand XMG3927-B50A and works a treat, good 2nd hand buy that works like my original :-)
  • I got an other spare/second hand XMG3927-B50A yesterday it had the same firmware as mine but I flashed it again and it worked ok so on v5.17 (ABMT.6)C0 same as mine then update/copied over the same setting seems to work OK. I will test it out live when kids in school Monday but looks ok and a good back up to have incase…
  • yes I have the modem still, but it looks a nightmare (after reading all that link) I`ve managed to buy another 2nd hand (same model) this one IS unlocked and even has the Firmware installed that I want (so all ok) I`m trying to get my money back for this locked unit as was it sold as locked and I was not told this. But…
  • if its like the XMG3927-B50A I bought locked by KCOM its nigh on impossibe, I`ve tried doing it via Putty etc but SSH not open all closed down (by firmware) Good luck
  • yes I`ve been looking at something similar it looks like a mine field just to reflash as if can do it (as in that forum) then if do manage to reflash (which looks hard) it then changes the password that is built into the old KCOM firmware. So the password which is written on the back of the router is invalid……………going by…
  • well had a look only HTTP and HTTPS open nothing else in. On my own other (same model modem/router) it has loads of stuff in SSH being one of them. I tried making a non admin account but stil the same……………its locked down to the isp config
  • Im trying to do this on a locked down KCOM isp router ZYXEL version XMG3927-B50A but when I get to putty its either freezing or times out. When I try to do it on my own ZYXEL XMG3927-B50A it works any idea as want to update and change the locked down firmware on the KCOM modem
  • Ok many thanks for the update. I was having a look round and managed to get a XMG3927-B50A going cheap so going to get that and get it all setup with my config files and up date the firmware to same as mine. Make sure it all works and then pack it all away so if my original packs up, I can swap it all over with no bother…
  • ok thanks its incase need replacement incase mine goes so Im ready
  • have you tried the default IP 192.168.1.1 also there will be a small reset pin hole near the power input socket.
