Hi,

My Zyxel XMG3927-B50A is currently running with its stock firmware V5.13(ABQO.0)D0. I have noticed that a new firmware is now available as V5.17(ABMT.5)C0.

Will this firmware work for my device despite the different strings ((ABQO.0)D0 vs. (ABMT.5)C0) ?

Thanks

-Joel

    Hey Joel,

I update my firmware come from Swisscom (Switzerland) to the factory one this weekend because I needed to use mPro Mesh solutions from Zyxel.

    Base firmware branded : V5.13(ABQO.0)D0.
    Updated firmware : V5.17(ABMT.5)C0.

Please watch this video to help you : https://youtu.be/vHDUjFk9u1M

STEP 1 : Use Terminal (MacOs) or PuTTY
    ssh (ip router) -l (username)
My exemple with Terminal : ssh 192.168.1.1 -l admin

STEP 2 : Follow these commands when connected

    zycli
    zycli modelcheck
zycli modelcheck show (Result : "ret:0")
    zycli modelcheck off
zycli modelcheck show (Result : "ret:-17")

zycli fwidcheck show (Result : "ret:0")
    zycli fwidcheck off
zycli fwidcheck show (Result : "ret:-17")

    exit

STEP 3 : Update your firmware with the web interface

    Enjoy :)

    Hi,
(ABQO.0)D0 and (ABMT.5)C0 are different firmware versions for XMG3927-B50A.
It can't be loaded with different firmware versions.

Im trying to do this on a locked down KCOM isp router ZYXEL version XMG3927-B50A but when I get to putty its either freezing or times out.

When I try to do it on my own ZYXEL XMG3927-B50A it works any idea as want to update and change the locked down firmware on the KCOM modem

It looks like your SSH port is closed. Can you check in the web UI under "Maintenance → Remote management"?

well had a look only HTTP and HTTPS open nothing else in. On my own other (same model modem/router) it has loads of stuff in SSH being one of them.

I tried making a non admin account but stil the same……………its locked down to the isp config

If your version is below V5.15(ABMT.5)C0, you should be able to use this: https://th0mas.nl/2020/03/26/getting-root-on-a-zyxel-vmg8825-t50-router/

Obviously, don't do this unless you actually own the device.

    Good luck

yes I have the modem still, but it looks a nightmare (after reading all that link) I`ve managed to buy another 2nd hand (same model) this one IS unlocked and even has the Firmware installed that I want (so all ok) I`m trying to get my money back for this locked unit as was it sold as locked and I was not told this.

But thanks for the info maybe one day when bored and is raining outside I might (if still stuck with it ;-) give this ago whats on your link.

    Many thanks
