NSA325v2 and NAS542 is used different disk file system, so you cannot directly connect NSA325v2's disk to NAS542. You may need to copy the data of NSA325v2 into somewhere. Then, put old two 3TB disk + new 1TB disk to NAS542 and create new disk format RAID 5. After that, copy the data to NAS542.

500Mbps is the total width as physical link in your powerline, but there are many noise in the powerline, so it will cause the speed down, you can refer the following link as Zyxel official description. http://kb.zyxel.com/KB/searchArticle!viewDetail.action?articleOid=015878&lang=EN

PLA is the bridge device, you can configure on your router to limit the device to access Internet.
-
Power LED didn't light? if you plug the PLA into circuit socket without device turns on, then it might be the HW problem and need to repair or search for a new one.

$70 for US dollar? I see it is $47 as https://www.ebay.com/itm/1x-ZyXEL-PLA5456-HomePlug-AV2000-Powerline-Ethernet-Adapter/132954978048?hash=item1ef4bbf700:g:pLAAAOSwHJFcZ5I9 PLA5456 is Broadcom chip, so you can try to search other Broadcom chip PLA with different brand, they would be workable.

what firmware version you used in your PLA? Try latest version and do reset again to check.
