Well I tried a firmware upgrade to this version via the Web GUI and my switch has been bricked (flashing green SYS light for over 10 mins).

Will need to return to Amazon and get a replacement now. Maybe I won't try an upgrade this time…

    Hi @davwheat,

    Welcome to the Zyxel community!

Could you share some information for me to clarify this problem?

    1. Did you use the .bix file to upgrade?
    2. Did you directly connect to XGS1210-12 and upgrade the firmware?

If one of the answers is no, please notice the wrong upgrade method might damage your device.

Kindly remind you to use the correct method to upgrade. And make sure no power disconnection will occur.

In addition, are you able to access the Web GUI of your switch? If not, please get a replacement.

Hi, before I brick mine too:

    1) Of course I would use the .bix file, what else?
    2) What means "directly connect to XGS…"? My computer is plugged into it "directly" by a network cable. And I'm using a Browser like firefox. What kind of setup would be "indirect"? Traversing multiple switches?

And if there is such a high risk of "bricking" the switch: is there a dedicated documentation for the upgrade process?

    Regards

    /rg

    Hi @zyxel_rg,

    Thanks for providing your information.

The firmware was fully tested before being released. And we did not receive the XGS1210 boot fail after the firmware was released for several months.

If your switch still cannot boot up, please reference this link to submit RMA and get a replacement.

After receiving a replacement, please follow the XGS1210 user's guide P.64-65 to upgrade firmware.

@Melen: thank you for your feedback. I successfully updated all my switches without any hassle.

Perhaps you should prevent incorrect firmware from being uploaded in the first place.
