sync speeds and network speed

I have very recently had a vdsl connection fault repaired, and now have a stable 53Mb/s vdsl sync speed. I find however that a broadband speed check at the SBG3300 produces test results of around 26 Mb/s. Can anyone offer guidance as to what might cause this type of restriction? Many thanks for any advice, Jeff
p.s. the SBG has a permanent Ipsec VPN to another site.

So If you tear down the IPsec and other settings. Restore the device to default, what the actual rate will it be? The Speedtest result the same?5

I think I was mislead by the online speed test (btwholesale). I tried with www.thinkbroadband.com and attained about 52Mb/s and downloaded a 1GB file at 55.2 Mb/s so no problems at all. Thanks for your suggestion, though.Jeff J Purcell, New Forest, Uk and France, 442900
