I'm going to purchase the GS-1200-8 switch to build a local network at home. There is a limitation point for mandatory establishing the certain IP-address for a switch/router to enable a fully functional connection towards ISP-provider's server. So, here comes the question to you whether GS-1200-8 switch has an option for internal IP-address setting to support authentication & correct data exchange with ISP server or not?

If not, it will be kind of you to advise suitable product of Zyxel.

Appreciate your quick reply. Regards

    Hello @VNZ

There is a limitation point for mandatory establishing the certain IP-address for a switch/router to enable a fully functional connection towards ISP-provider's server. So, here comes the question to you whether GS-1200-8 switch has an option for internal IP-address setting to support authentication & correct data exchange with ISP server or not?

Are you mentioning that you would like to utilize the switch to control the end devices via MAC Auth or 802.1X?

Please describe more details about the authentication requirement, it can help us to provide with the suitable suggestion.

    Hello @VNZ

Are you trying to set up PPPoE on the switch to connect to your ISP modem? If so, please note that PPPoE configurations are generally managed by a gateway or router rather than a switch.

You might consider the SCR 50AXE or the USG FLEX 50 for your requirements. The SCR 50AXE is a secure cloud-managed router with AXE5400 WiFi 6E, ideal for high-performance networking. Alternatively, the USG FLEX 50 offers versatile next-gen firewalls for robust security and connectivity. Both options are well-equipped for direct ISP connections and PPPoE setup.
