I've been away working and coming back I see there is an upgrade for myUSG 60 W.

So I try to log on to see whether I need it and I can't get access.

To cut a long story short it seems my admin logged on to make sure the USG 60 W was okay whilst I was away, got the "your password needs to be updated" prompt and did not take a note of it having generated and used a complex password.

Do I have to do a complete reset to sort this out?

And of course I'm not sure we have a current backup of the settings.

Best to all

I forgot password before, so you can check Guide from FAQ to reset the password.

    Good morning

    Thank you Jeremylin

Unfortunately the number of times I get near a serial cable is a least once every three years!

Thank you for that link and I see....
    ....................................
Note: You must physically beside at your device, and using serial connection for below SOP
You can follow these steps to backup device running config:
    1. Reboot device
    2. Enter debug mode and type “atkz –b”
    3. Use “atgo” booting device
    .....................................

For me there are several steps missing  - not the least finding an older laptop with a serial port to connect to the USG 60 W.

But is this FAQ saying that as soon as I make that serial connection physically something will magically appear will allow me to enter debug mode or do I need to log on via some sort of command prompt?

Reboot the device, and enter any key within 3 secs to enter the  debug mode.(don’t need to login)
In debug mode, you can type the commands that the guide mentioned.

    Good morning Charlie,

    Sorry reboot which device?

Do you mean the USG 60 W?

Or do you mean reboot the USG 60 W with a laptop or something attached to the USG 60 W via the serial port with some type of software open?

Reply with some instructions using baby steps please:-)

Let PC connect with USG60W via console cable. Also, you need to install tera term application(selected baud rate 115200), and reboot USG60W then enter any key in 3 secs.
Therefore, the device will in debug mode.

    Good morning Charlie,

Thank you very much for this - I've downloaded teraterm and found a serial cable to connect a PC to the serial port on the USG 60 W.

I'm afraid I'm stuck there - I assume the some sort of commandline to connect to the USG 60 W or does this only come alive once I do the reboot you describe?

Also the teraterm seems to find Com 1  as there is only one com port on this PC but does not seem to allow me to enter the identity you mention being 115200 - does this only happen once I've rebooted the USG 60 W and connected to it?

you need to go to Setup->Serial Port to modify the port to 115200.

After PC connect with device via console cable, the windows will display as below. Then just do the progress which SOP mentioned.

You can check instruction from internet, if face problems which  are related with configured tera term. Google is good tool :)

    Hi there

Thank you for some more detail.

I realised I was using the wrong window forTerra Term

But with the PC connected to the Zyxel I do not get the response in the command window that you suggest I should - it stays blank - does this mean I need to reboot it before I get that message or that I'm simply not connected?

    TIA
