Wifi Internet Speed Issue

Hello Zyxel Community,

I’ve been using a Zyxel WiFi router to manage my work-from-home setup, which includes video editing tasks on my PC. While the router has been reliable for general usage like browsing and streaming, I’ve noticed a significant issue when working on large video editing projects.

Whenever I start editing large video files (especially 4K footage), the internet speed on my PC drops dramatically. This slowdown affects my ability to upload files to cloud storage, sync project data, and even perform basic tasks like downloading additional resources. The issue becomes worse when multiple devices are connected to the network at the same time.

Here are some specific observations:

  1. Network Performance: The WiFi signal strength remains strong, but the speed slows down significantly during large file editing or data transfers.
  2. Bandwidth Utilization: It seems like the video editing software (Kinemaster) or the large file operations are consuming bandwidth disproportionately, leading to congestion on the network.
  3. Impact on Workflow: Stable internet is essential for video editing tasks, especially when collaborating with others remotely or accessing cloud-based tools. The slowdown disrupts my workflow and delays project deadlines.

Here are some details about my setup:

Internet Plan: Zyxel internet connection
Connection Type: Wi-Fi
PC Configuration: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1235U 1.30 GHz with 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)

I’ve tried some troubleshooting steps, such as limiting the number of connected devices, optimizing the router placement, and restarting the router, but the issue persists. I’m wondering if there’s a specific setting in the Zyxel router (e.g., QoS or bandwidth prioritization) that could help resolve this problem. Alternatively, is this related to the router’s capacity to handle high-bandwidth activities?

Any insights or recommendations from the community would be highly appreciated. I’d love to continue using Zyxel for my work setup, but resolving this issue is crucial for my productivity. Thank you in advance for your support!
