I have 2 Zyxel XGS-1250-12 switches (latest firmwate) linked with a single Cat. 8 ethernet cable on 10Gb port.

I haver read about some setup when linking 2 switches (on managed devices something called "Trunk").

Please, let me know if is there any special setup to make it works properly.

Thank you.

    Hi @CarlosGT,

May I know your purpose is to have VLAN trunk? Or the static trunk?

If is VLAN trunk, you just need to make sure all of your VLANs are tagged member of the connecting ports. Here's a VLAN FAQ:

How to configure VLAN for web-managed switch? — Zyxel Community

If is static trunk, you can setup Link aggregation(AKA LAG/static trunk).

    Hope it helps.

    Hi Melen.

It is a simple scenario: 2 XGS-1250-12 switches (one en first floor and another in second floor) linked with a single ethernet cable on port 10Gb. (Let´s say port 11).

I was asking about if is there any setup on the ports so they knew there is a switch on the other side and manage traffic on a more efficient way.

Thank you for your answer and support.

    Carlos

    Hi @CarlosGT,

Seems like your update is less related to "on managed devices something called "Trunk"". Would you like to share more details about your purpose? Like:

    • Want to see the device information that connects to this port.
    • Want to manage the device in one platform.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Melen.

Just want to link 2 switches with one Ethernet cable from one floor to another.

I was asking if is there any special setup for this or maybe is as simple as connect and forget.

    Thank you

    Hi @CarlosGT,

You don't need special configurations to make two switches work together if your network is simple, which means you only have one LAN/VLAN. Just link @PeterUK said, yes just link the two up.
