In response to the requirements raised by user @AMI, we propose the addition of features as BGP, RIP and OSPF features for H series.

This suggestion originated from the discussion found here:

    Hi Judy,

Thank you for your response. I understand what you're saying, but I can't help feeling disappointed. We just purchased this firewall as an upgrade from the USG 310, and now I have to report to management that the new device lacks basic functionality that the older model had.

It feels like a step backward that a top-tier device does not include essential features right out of the box. I really hope this gets implemented soon—ideally before 2026. It just doesn’t make sense for a high-end device to be missing such fundamental capabilities. I sincerely hope the company reconsiders this business strategy.

Routing protocols are an essential. Its like buying a car and now the seller tells me it does not have any axles. I do not check if a car i purchase has axles because it needs it to function.

Same with RIP,OSPF, BGP. The latter is absolutely needed when using VTI routed VPN and multiple WAN connections to the same target. This is the main advantage of that type of VPN and without BGP it has no purpose.

An upgrade from a firewall can not mean it has less features than the older model - and what i see right now, more and more issues will arise as features we used in the older firewall are no longer possible in the new one.

This will seriously hurt deployment, especially with larger companies. It is just no longer possible to use Zyxel H models for it and I have to move to another vendor, one thing I would have liked to avoid.

I hope we can turn this around, I really hate to replace all my customers firewalls after i put in soo much effort to convince them to give Zyxel a try.

Besides hurting my reputation, there would be no more chance for Zyxel to get into the door.

Just like Tooness said, its a step backward and a top tier firewall cannot leave out essential features.
