The Nebula Status Dashboard in uOS provides real-time visibility into a firewall’s connectivity with NCC. This feature, while introduced earlier, has some unique behaviors and quirks that administrators should be aware of.

1. Where to Find the Nebula Status Indicator

Dashboard → Nebula Status

Hovering over the status provides a tooltip with additional detailsClicking the status opens the Nebula Status Network Tool (for troubleshooting connectivity issues)

2. Understanding the Different Nebula Status States

Your firewall will display one of five possible Nebula Statuses in the dashboard:

  • Connected: The firewall is registered and successfully connected to NCC
  • No Site Assignment: The firewall is registered but not assigned to a Nebula organization
  • Disconnected: The firewall is registered but cannot reach NCC
  • Unknown: The firewall cannot retrieve its registration status
  • Disabled: Call-home to Nebula is manually disabled via CLI

3. How Firewall Registration Works & When Nebula Status Updates

How Device Registration Works in uOS

  • The firewall first checks its registration status during Step 3 of the Initial Setup Wizard
  • After the setup, the firewall automatically re-checks registration every 24 hours

This means that:If the firewall is removed from NCC, it will take up to 24 hours to reflect this change on the dashboard.Refreshing the dashboard or running the Nebula Status Tool will NOT immediately update the status.

Initiate manual device registration status query by visiting the GUI “Licenses” page.
