In uOS 1.31, Zyxel firewalls now support event-based email notifications for system alerts. This enhances the existing log alerts by allowing admins to receive real-time email notifications when important events occur.
How to Enable Event Notifications
Step 1: Configure Email Server
Before enabling notifications, set up a valid email server in the firewall: Navigate to System > Notification > Mail server
Step 2: Enable Event Notifications
- Go to System > Notification
- Under Event Notification, select specific events to monitor
- Set the alert inhibition period (suppresses excessive notifications caused by the same event)
- Choose delivery method:
- Email & Log (sends an email + logs the event)
- Log Only (only logs the event, no email)
- Add up to 5 recipients
Supported Event Notifications
Currently, 17 critical events can trigger notifications, including:
- User: Admin login, Admin login fail, user lockout and user login fail
- Network: Physical port down and physical port up
- Maintenance: Device reboot, device shutdown, factory reset and new firmware available
- System: CPU usage over threshold, device HA failover, memory usage over threshold, storage usage over threshold, temperature too high, USB disk full alert and USB disk full warning
Log Alerts
Log Alert Delivery Method: Previously, logs could be collected using two methods: USB storage and Remote server.
In version 1.31, a new option is supported: Email delivery
