RSTP is enabled by default or NOT
This morning, we set up a test environment and encountered something very strange. I’m used to working with Cisco switches, but in our hotel, we now have more Zyxel switches than Cisco.
We conducted a test by connecting one port to another on a brand-new Zyxel switch, intentionally creating a loop to see if it would block the port. On Cisco, the port eventually gets blocked after some time, but on the Zyxel switch, something different happened: all the lights started flashing green very rapidly.
This surprised me because, on Cisco, when a loop occurs, the reaction is slower before the port is blocked. But in this case, the Zyxel switch seemed completely overwhelmed, as if Spanning Tree wasn’t working at all.
So my question is: Is Spanning Tree disabled by default on Zyxel switches? Do you need to enable it manually?

Hi @Luis012,
May I know which model you used to test? If the model supports RSTP, RSTP is disabled by default in standalone mode. You need to configure by yourself.
