USG20-VPN factory reset without pwd / bootloader mode
Freshman Member
Hi all,
I have the device above with a modified firmware 4.x. I can not log in via web gui or serial. I can boot via serial and after CTRL-C I get a promt USG20-VPN>, but all commands like "restoredefault" throw "ERROR". Pressing and holding reset and then power on has no effect, it just boots normally and not in bootloader mode.
I read I can try to short two pins of the nvram while booting to force bootloader mode, has anyone done this already?
I'm wondering which chip the nvram is, I have a Kingston EMMC 08G, on the board, does anyone know?

Hi @ruttercrash ,
Do you mean that after pressing the RESET button, the USG20-VPN only reboots but does not reset to factory defaults?
If so, please push the Reset button until the port connection LEDs turn off (after about 5 seconds).
