With the H Series firewalls now fully integrated into Zyxel's Nebula Cloud Management, understanding the differences between cloud-based and local configurations when managing ports and interfaces.

What’s the Same?

Both local and cloud interfaces display:

  • Port status
  • Link speed
  • Interface names
  • Role designations (e.g., WAN, LAN)

These can be used as reference when deploying or connecting devices to the firewall.

External Interface Configuration

In Nebula, connectivity check defaults to ICMP; In local GUI, users can select connectivity check to ICMP or TCP.

The “change to different ISP” (WAN auto rollback) setting is useful for local testing but is intentionally disabled in Nebula to ensure cloud connectivity is always preserved.

Internal Interface Configuration

If you change the LAN IP from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.10.1:

In local GUI: The DHCP start IP updates automatically.

In Nebula: You need to manually change the DHCP settings to match.

Leaving Default Router [blank] in cloud is equivalent to “Interface IP” type in local GUI

Static DHCP table management

In local GUI: DHCP table is separate, it creates from the DHCP Table page

In Nebula: Directly on interface page

General and VTI Interface Configuration

General interface and Virtual Tunnel Interface configuration are consistent between local and Nebula platforms.
