uOS 1.32: Quick DHCP IP Renewal Option Now Available for External Interfaces

As part of the usability improvements in Zyxel’s uOS 1.32 firmware, a helpful feature has been introduced for network administrators managing external (WAN) interfaces that use dynamic IP (DHCP) assignment.
New: Manual DHCP Release/Renew Button
Previously, if you needed to refresh the IP address on an external interface configured for DHCP (Get Automatically), you would have to disable and re-enable the interface.
Now, with a new dedicated button in the web GUI, you can quickly release and renew the IP address without any interruption to interface settings.
Where to Find It
Navigate to:
Network Status > Interface
For external interface that has its IP assignment method set to DHCP, you’ll now see a “Renew” icon next to it.
Clicking this button will:
- Immediately release the current IP address.
- Request a new IP address from the DHCP server (typically your ISP).
Why This Matters
This is a minor but very practical change for:
- Resolving WAN connectivity issues.
- Forcing a new IP lease from the DHCP server.
- Avoiding the need to disable interface manually, which could cause service interruptions.
