Zyxel continues to enhance the usability of its AP Controller (APC) feature with the introduction of AP Group LED Suppression Settings in firmware version 1.35. This small but meaningful update gives administrators better control over the visual behavior of their access points (APs)—especially in environments where indicator lights may be distracting or unnecessary.

What Is LED Suppression?

LED suppression disables all LED indicators on your access points. This can be useful in:

  • Schools and classrooms where lighting distractions should be minimized
  • Retail or hospitality where visible lights may interfere with ambiance
  • Bedrooms or dorms where constant blinking lights are disruptive

Previously, this feature could only be enabled per AP, but now you can apply it at the group level.

What's New in Firmware 1.35?

Group-Wide LED Suppression Setting

You can now configure LED suppression directly from the AP Group settings, allowing you to manage multiple APs at once.

  • Found under: AP Controller > AP Group > [Group Name] > LED Suppression
  • Options:
    • Enabled – Turns off LED indicators on all APs in the group
    • Disabled – Allows LEDs to function normally

Priority Behavior: Per-AP Overrides Group Settings

It’s important to note:

Per-AP LED suppression settings take priority over group-level configurations.

So if:

  • Group setting = LEDs ON
  • AP-specific setting = LEDs OFF

Then that individual AP’s LEDs will remain OFF, regardless of the group configuration.

How to Verify LED Suppression Status

You can confirm the LED status of each AP in the AP List:

  • Navigate to AP Controller > Monitor > AP List
  • Review the column showing LED status (ON/OFF)

This helps quickly identify whether suppression is correctly applied or if any overrides are in place.
