I want to close the fiber ring using 5 switches

If I connect both fibers to the last switch to close the ring, after a few hours everything freezes. If I use the two channels separately, meaning I test one or the other, everything works. I would like to avoid doing it manually when part of the ring goes down for various reasons. Which option should I enable on the switch or switches? I tried with Spanning Tree, but it still freezes

    Hi @gyfdjuysdg

When closing a fiber ring with 5 switches, network freezing issues, even with Spanning Tree enabled, typically point to an RSTP configuration issue/misconfiguration. An improperly configured Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) or Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) can cause network loops and broadcast storms, leading to freezing.

To ensure proper operation and prevent freezing, follow these steps to configure RSTP on all your Zyxel switches:

How to configure RSTP in a ring topology (V4.80 version) — Zyxel Community

If your switches are RGS-200 series, you might also consider Ringv2 (Fast Ring Protection), which is specifically designed for ring topologies and offers faster convergence than standard RSTP.
