Overview

To ensure secure and efficient data transmission between its headquarters and branches, Lagoon needed to upgrade its existing network communication equipment. The company required a solution that could quickly connect data across all stores while enabling efficient network management and real-time troubleshooting via a cloud platform. Additionally, with the rise of increasingly severe cyber threats, implementing multi-layered security to block malicious attacks and safeguard business operations became a key priority for Lagoon.

Lagoon installed Zyxel Networks' USG FLEX 100 firewall and USG LITE 60AX security routers, creating a secure and reliable network infrastructure. These high-performance, easy-to-use cybersecurity solutions ensure seamless data transmission, support smooth operations, strengthen network protection, and lay a strong foundation for the company's continued growth.

Challenges

One of the biggest challenges in setting up a network is the lack of IT staff at each store. Lagoon's stores are located throughout Taiwan, but only the headquarters has IT personnel to manage all the equipment. This means that whenever the network needs to be set up or changed, there's a risk that it could affect the stores' connections. Improper configuration could cause service interruptions or make it hard for stores to stay connected. Moreover, the installation, configuration, and management of firewalls and routers require specialized technical knowledge, and the headquarters IT staff needed access to a technical support team for any potential issues.

Solutions

At the headquarters, the USG FLEX 100 Firewall was deployed, featuring multi-layered Unified Threat Management (UTM) to provide robust cybersecurity protection and safeguard the internal network against evolving cyber threats.

For each store, Lagoon adopted the USG LITE 60AX Security Router, featuring AX6000 WiFi 6 connectivity. With high-performance networking, built-in security defenses, and dual 2.5 GbE mGig ports, it offers easy setup and strong protection, ideal for businesses without dedicated IT staff. The security routers significantly enhanced the efficiency of POS systems, order management, and internal communication.

With free built-in threat management features, the USG LITE 60AX effectively detected and prevented common threats like ransomware and malware, without requiring annual subscription fees. It also blocked malicious websites and intrusion attempts, ensuring in-store network security at no additional cost.

To simplify network operations, Lagoon also implemented the Nebula cloud networking solution. With intelligent cloud management via Nebula, the headquarters IT team can remotely monitor network conditions across all stores, detect issues in real time, and troubleshoot quickly, reducing both IT maintenance costs and downtime. For added convenience, the USG LITE 60AX can be set up using the Nebula mobile app with just a few clicks, offering a flexible, easy way to update settings anytime, from anywhere.
