Last week, I tried to log into the web interface for the switch to check the settings. However, my password didn't work. Today, I can no longer access the IP 192.168.1.3. I tried different browsers and computers, but it's not possible.

Now to the important questions:

Is it possible that the switch changes its settings on its own?

Is there a way to log in despite losing the password, or is the only option to delete everything and reconfigure all the settings?

Why can’t I reach the web interface?

    Hi @Schmock,

    Welcome to the Zyxel Community!

The Zyxel GS1200-5HP v2 switch will not change its settings or password on its own. Changes require manual intervention.

Here’s why you might be experiencing issues and how to resolve them:

Why you can't reach the web interface

The switch's IP address might have changed from the 192.168.1.3 if another device used that IP or if it was configured for DHCP. Also, ensure your computer is on the same subnet as the switch (e.g., both 192.168.1.X).

    To regain access

If you cannot determine the IP or have lost the password, a factory reset is necessary. This will revert all settings, including the password, to factory defaults. To do this, press and hold the reset button with a pin on the switch for 10 seconds or until the PWR/SYS LED begins to blink and then release it. When the PWR/SYS LED begins to blink, the defaults have been restored and the device restarts. Please be aware that this will erase all custom configurations.
