Hello

I have three GS1200-5HP v2, two are running v3 firmware., But this latest one, I unable to update it.

When I first ran the update for the v3 via the browser/web interface (I'm running Linux, as with the others), I soft-bricked it, and I had to run a 'curl' in terminal to get it back to v2. phew…. Here is exactly what happened and how I got around the soft-bricked switch.

How I unbricked it: https://deafbutnotdead.pagecord.com/zyxel-firmware-upgrade-was-failed-please-try-again

This is strange, as the other two are running v3.

Is it due to its serial number? Build version?

The PDF supplied with the .bin file does talk about the serial numbers, but the English is not very clear…

The v3 patch I tried is GS1200-5HP v2_2.00(ABKN.3)C0

My SN is S2243xxxxx

Though not very important, I would like to update if possible

Many thanks

    Hi @Minty95

    This issue is because

    1. The upload process takes longer in Ubuntu/Debian. Compare with Windows and the browser is Firefox.
    2. The Firefox takes longer than google chrome in Ubuntu/Debian, which over 30 seconds countdown.

I tried using Ubuntu 24 with google chrome and upgrade without any issue. Please try google chrome again.

The upload for the v3 takes just a couple of seconds when using curl, finishes with no errors, but doesn't change anything, as if it's not the correct file. (When I redid the curl update with v2, it took 3 mins)

I'm going to try again with the web interface in a couple of days when I'm back on my Arch PC
