Wireless clients not getting correct IP

Got an issue where clients connecting to one of my networks dont obtain the correct IP right away.

I have my switches and access points in a management VLAN but the main staff wifi where the issue occurs is untagged (VLAN1).

Sometimes clients connect to the wifi but pick up an IP in the management range. If I disconnect the wifi and reconnect it picks up a new IP in the untagged range.

I have the switch ports configured using PVID for the management network but reading up this might be incorrect? Can anyone advise on setup?

Seems like the AP management is on untagged network too and you have two DHCP servers.

If you want the AP management on a given VLAN uncheck "As Native VLAN" and set VLAN

    Hi @nickpatchett,

The issue you're experiencing, where clients on your main staff Wi-Fi (VLAN1) sometimes pick up an IP from the management range, is related to your switch port configuration. This occurs because the switch port's PVID is likely set incorrectly.

Here’s how to correctly configure the switch ports connected to your AP to resolve this:

    1. Switch Port Configuration: The port connecting to the AP should have both the management VLAN and VLAN 1 tagged.
    2. AP Configuration:
      1. Ensure the AP's management interface is configured to use your management VLAN (e.g., VLAN 100).
      2. For the main staff Wi-Fi SSID, configure it to operate on VLAN1, meaning its traffic will be sent tagged by the AP.

    Hi Zyxel_Tina

Thanks for your confirmation. If I give support access to Nebula could you confirm the configuration on my AP Port Profile?

    Hi @nickpatchett,

Sure. Once you enable the support access and provide us your org and site name along with the AP model name, we will review the configuration of your AP. If any issues are found, we will inform you about the necessary changes.
