On a USG you can do MAC Authentication but on any standalone AP even the top of the line no MAC Authentication option?

    Hi @PeterUK

Yes, the MAC authentication is currently supported by controller mode and Nebula mode. Standalone mode doesn't support this function, it only supports MAC filter function. This is because of market segmentation.

Please feel free to let me know if you hope the standalone mode can support MAC authentication. I will help to create the idea post and raise to our production team to evaluate it.

Yes I hope to for standalone mode can support MAC authentication

But also how is MAC authentication different to MAC filtering? it seems they both do the same thing when doing a allow list for MAC filtering vs allowed MAC authentication list?

    Thanks

    Hi @PeterUK

MAC filtering allows you to allow only the MAC addresses in the list or block those not in the list on your device, which is not a shared list.

MAC authentication is used to verify the whitelist MAC against the RADIUS/AD server, which is shared with multiple APs.
