Why do the copper ports of Combo Ports 25–28 on the GS2220 not link up when a GBIC module is inserted but no fiber cable is connected?
A:
The GS2220-28 features combo ports (ports 25-28), which prioritize GBIC (fiber module) connections over copper (RJ45) interfaces. If a GBIC module is inserted in the port, the copper interface will not activate, even if it is not linked via fiber.
