Hiya,

I have 2 Zywall ATP700, I would like to import the configuration file from one device to another.
I have tried via the GUI and FTP but the file doesn't appear after the upload.

Thanks for your help.

    Hi @fmde,

To import a configuration file from one ZyWALL ATP700 to another, please follow these steps:

    • Backup the Configuration: Before making any changes, always back up the current configuration of the target ZyWALL ATP700. This will allow you to revert to a known working state if needed. You can typically do this via the device's local Web GUI by navigating to Maintenance > File Manager > Configuration File and clicking the Download button for startup-config.conf.
    • Download Configuration from Source Device: Access the local Web GUI of the source ZyWALL ATP700. Navigate to Maintenance > File Manager > Configuration File and download the startup-config.conf file.
    • Upload Configuration to Target Device:
      1. Access the local Web GUI of the target ZyWALL ATP700.
      2. Navigate to Maintenance > File Manager > Configuration File.
      3. Under Upload Configuration File, click Browse... and select the startup-config.conf file you downloaded from the source device.
      4. Click Upload.
      5. After the file is successfully uploaded, you will be logged out of the Web Configurator. Wait for about one minute before logging back in to the Zyxel device to complete the process.

It is important to note that while direct transfer of the full configuration file between identical models like two ATP700s is generally supported, partial configuration imports are not directly supported. If you need to transfer only specific parts, you would typically need to edit the configuration file.

If you encounter further issues or if the file does not appear after upload, please provide the following information to help us investigate:

    • Firmware Version: The current firmware version of both ZyWALL ATP700 devices.
    • Error Messages: Any specific error messages displayed during the upload process.
    • Screenshots: Screenshots of the GUI sections where you attempted the upload (both via GUI and any FTP client you used).

This AI response aims to provide initial troubleshooting steps and identify information needed for further diagnosis. Feel free to share additional details based on the suggestions above — this will help community members offer more targeted assistance.

    Hi,

    • Firmware Version:
      Source : V5.39(ABTJ.1)
      Target : V5.41(ABTJ.0)
    • Error Messages: Any specific error messages displayed during the upload process.
    • Screenshots: 1.png : GUI section. FTP cli used for upload.
    • Network Topology: Device are not connected to each other.

It's like the source file is not compatible.
On the target, I am able to download and upload startup-config.conf but if copy/paste source file into target file, the "new" file is not uploaded, even remaned.
