mDNS Proxy
UOS version 1.37 introduces mDNS Proxy, allowing service discovery across different subnets.
How it Works
Multicast DNS (mDNS) packets are normally confined to a single subnet. The mDNS Proxy intercepts these packets and generates copies to flood across all interfaces on the proxy list. This enables devices like MacBooks to discover smart TVs on different interfaces.
Guaranteed Services
Zyxel guarantees support for the following common formats:
- AirPlay
- AirDrop
- Chromecast (Google Cast)
Note: Unlike IGMP Proxy, mDNS Proxy does not require peer devices to send "join requests".
mDNS Proxy Settings
Firewall can send all mDNS traffic to the interfaces added to mDNS Proxy list.
