Advanced Captive Portal Features

Firmware version 1.37 introduces several enhancements to the Captive Portal, focusing on third-party integration and expanded user support.

1. External Portal Redirect Parameters

When using third-party portals like Purple Wi-Fi, specific attribute names are often required (e.g., using "user_mac" instead of the default "client_mac"). Administrators can now customize these attribute names and the MAC delimiter via the CLI. Additionally, the firewall now supports the HTTP GET method for redirects, whereas it previously only supported POST.

2. Exempt Lists and Object Groups

The Captive Portal Exempt List has been upgraded to support Object Groups. Instead of adding individual objects, admins can group multiple devices and select the entire group from the dropdown menu, simplifying management.

3. Expanded User Principal Name (UPN)

To resolve authentication failures with Active Directory (AD), the maximum length for the login name attribute has been increased. Previously capped at 63 characters, it now supports over 113 characters, ensuring compatibility with long UPNs.
