Hello,

i bought a NWA50BE PRO, it runs fine so far but i'm concerned about the devices operating temperature. the case is hot to the touch on the back, its mounted to the ceiling (concrete). is there a way to check the actual temperature? i found nothing in the ui, it runs in standalone mode.

thank you in advance.

    Hi @DesertH2O,

    Welcome to the Zyxel Community!

The NWA50BE PRO is designed for optimal performance within specified operating temperature ranges. While the device doesn't support checking its internal temperature through the local GUI or CLI, if your environment meets these conditions, the warmth on the back from normal heat dissipation is expected.

    Hello Tina,

thank you for your reply. I bought a infrared thermometer and the backplate is around 55°C, in a spot near the qr code its around 60°C. i'm trying to play around with the transmit power a bit.

Confirming measurements of DesertH2O. On the level of the qr-code temperatures are even reaching 65C. Measured with a Voltcraft IR-230.
    NWA50BE stands vertical.
It doesn’t feel right when it’s going 15C over on the upper temperature limits when doing nothing.

The NWA50BE stands vertical. I don’t want to think what happens when it going to be mounted on the ceiling

It doesn’t feel right when the device is going 15C over the specified temperature when doing almost nothing.

What can be done about this?

    Hi @jweke,

Please note that the temperatures listed in the official Environmental Specifications refer to the ambient temperature around the device, rather than the temperature of the device housing or internal components.

    • Operating: The device can operate normally when the surrounding ambient temperature is between 0°C and 50°C, with 10%–95% non-condensing humidity.
    • Storage: The listed range of −40°C to 70°C applies when the device is powered off and being stored or transported.

In addition, the back of the AP is designed to dissipate heat, so it is reasonable for this area to be warmer.

Therefore, if the device is installed in an environment within the specified operating temperature range, please rest assured that it can be used normally.

    Hello Zyxel_Tina

“Environmental specification” - I did not get that in the first place. And it is making sense now.

    Thanks
