Overview

IAKI Conference & Spa Hotel, an iconic landmark of the Mamaia resort on the Black Sea coast, is renowned for its exclusive offerings in a competitive HoReCa market.

Facing limitations with outdated WiFi 5 infrastructure, IAKI turned to Zyxel Networks' WiFi 6 and Nebula cloud platform, delivered in partnership with ITLab Services & Security. This resulted in 300% faster wireless speeds, better performance in busy areas, enhanced security and simplified network management for a seamless guest experience.

Challenges

IAKI Conference & Spa Hotel previously operated a mixed network that included WiFi 5 access points from another vendor. However, the outdated technology limited performance, as today's standards demand higher speeds and support for more connected devices. With a large lobby, several restaurants, a swimming pool area and numerous conference rooms, the hotel sees a sharp rise in connections during the summer. Upgrading to WiFi 6 and a switch infrastructure capable of supporting advanced WiFi 6 and 7 technology became essential.

Solutions

The IAKI project integrated Zyxel Networks' full range of networking and security solutions, including switches, firewalls and access points, into a unified network architecture. This infrastructure was designed with scalability in mind, ensuring seamless adoption of future technologies.

The architecture adopted allows for the efficient isolation of incidents, contributing to maintaining the stability and continuous functioning of the critical systems. Using equipment from a single provider also brings important advantages in the unitary management of the network and the Zyxel Networks equipment has a great price-to-performance ratio." The upgrade to WiFi 6 brought major improvements over the previous WiFi 5 setup, delivering faster speeds and support for more connected devices. The switch to Zyxel Networks technologies led to a 300% increase in wireless connection speeds.

The segmentation of various network categories has offered a significant performance advantage, especially in high-density areas like the hotel lobby and restaurants.

Results

The Nebula cloud platform has also streamlined network management. While the current setup is hybrid (cloud and on-premises), a full migration to Nebula is planned by the end of the year.

Already the platform has greatly reduced the time required for device configuration and overall network administration.
