Hello, I have an old GS1920-24HP that works flawlessly, but I want to implement VLANs on my network and I can't find the management IP address of the switch. I've tried Zyxel One Network Utility (ZON), but it doesn't find anything on the network.

Could this switch to be older version that is NOT managed? Google (and AI services) tells me it is managed.

    Hi @marivesel,

    Welcome to the Zyxel Community!

We confirm that the GS1920-24HP is a Managed Switch. To help you locate the management IP, please try the following:

    • Check ZON Settings: In the ZON Utility, go to Settings > Network Adapter and ensure the correct network adapter is selected. Since ZON Utility uses Zyxel Discovery Protocol (ZDP) to discover Zyxel devices within the same broadcast domain, your computer must be in the same subnet as the switch to scan it successfully. (We recommend using this method with your computer directly connected to the switch via Ethernet.)
    • Check DHCP Client List: Please check your gateway/router's DHCP table to see if the switch has been assigned an IP. If your uplink device is also a Zyxel model, feel free to provide the model name—we can offer more specific guidance on how to find the switch through the gateway’s interface.

Additionally, based on your description, we assume the switch hasn't been configured yet and is in its default state. You may try temporarily disconnecting the switch from your main network and connecting your computer directly using an Ethernet cable. Then, manually configure your computer's Ethernet adapter with a static IP address in the same subnet as the switch's default IP (192.168.1.1). For example,

    • Set your computer's IP to 192.168.1.100 and the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0.
    • Next, open a web browser and try to access http://192.168.1.1.
    • The default login credentials are typically admin for the username and 1234 for the password.

Please be aware that the GS1920-24HP model has reached its EOL status, which means our support for this model is now limited. For better performance and ongoing support, we recommend exploring our current switch offerings here: Switch | Zyxel Networks
