USG FLEX H - License Behavior of the Secondary Device After HA Pairing
Zyxel Employee
What happens to the secondary firewall’s license after HA pairing and how to address it?
Once pairing is complete, the secondary device’s license will automatically be transferred to the primary device, and you will receive an email notification. When this happens, the secondary device is left without an active license. This causes its associated Nebula organization to downgrade to Nebula Basic mode, which disables access to advanced Nebula features.
Under Nebula License 2.0’s per‑device model, every device in an HA pair—including the secondary—must have its own valid Nebula Pro Pack license in order to maintain Nebula Pro status for the organization and avoid being downgraded to Basic mode.
If you are experiencing this issue, please contact Zyxel Support. We will provide the necessary Nebula Pro Pack licenses for your secondary HA firewall members free of charge for the first year after HA is enabled. After one year, customers will need to contact Zyxel again to request a license renewal.
