Hello everyone,

I need to paint APs that are going to be installed on ceilings, matching their RAL color.

Which paint can I use without issues?

    Hi @GiuseppeR,

While painting Zyxel Access Points to match your ceiling’s RAL color is possible, any physical modification carries inherent risks to the device’s functionality. Because APs are precisely engineered for optimal heat dissipation and wireless signal integrity, we generally recommend keeping the original enclosure.

Please note that any performance degradation or hardware damage resulting from modifications will not be covered under the product warranty.

If you decide to proceed with painting the AP, please carefully follow these precautions to minimize potential issues:

    • Avoid signal interference: Do not use paint containing metal, carbon-based pigments, or conductive materials, as these can degrade Wi-Fi coverage.
    • Manage thermal risks: The original white casing is designed to reflect ambient heat. Painting it a darker color may cause the device to absorb more heat. Please ensure paint layers are as thin as possible to prevent thermal throttling.
    • Protect internal components: Carefully mask the ventilation holes, LEDs, Ethernet ports, and screw holes before painting. Blocking the vents will restrict airflow and may cause overheating, and any paint entering the chassis could damage internal circuitry.
