WOL possible?
Freshman Member
I'm wondering why SME grade network device (FLEX700H) while having cloud features here and there has no basic GUI-function like Wake On Lan with a click of a button? And for some older devices there is a list of configuration you have to do to simply send a magic packet.

Hi @Rösti
If your scenario is to wake up PC that cross the site-to-site VPN by wake on lan software, you don't need to enable any function, just need to add a static ARP for this client.
Please reference this FAQ to setup the static ARP:

No, the scenario is basically have a (Zyxel) GUI exposed button to send a WOL packet.
The router itself is a client of an IP network, so it is not managing other devices and ARP table might not be static throughout a time. In theory it shall be sufficient knowing MAC address of a to-be-WOLed device to send a local UDP broadcast with magic packet. Is there such a way in GUI/CLI or the only option is a workaround through static ARP and NAT?
Thank you

Hi @Rösti
Since the ARP record has flush period, normally 300 seconds, you need to set static ARP or the firewall can't get the result by ARP request (end device won't reply during sleep).
And the device currently doesn't support GUI/CLI to send the magic packet. You still need to use another tool and set static ARP and NAT to wake up the end device.
I have created an idea post for this. We will monitor the comments and votes to evaluate this function.
