Troubleshooting Intermittent Nebula Offline Issues on XGS1930 Series Switches
Intermittent Nebula offline issues on XGS1930 series switches may be caused by network connectivity, DNS settings, or underlying hardware abnormalities. If a switch frequently disconnects from Nebula Control Center (NCC) while remaining accessible locally, further investigation may be required to identify the root cause.
Possible Causes
1. Network Connectivity or DNS Issues
Unstable network connections, incorrect DNS settings, or firewall restrictions may prevent the switch from maintaining a stable connection to Nebula.
2. Potential Hardware Abnormalities
In some cases, hardware issues may also cause intermittent Nebula disconnections. Possible indicators include:
- Abnormal Temperature Readings: Unexpected Junction Temperature values, such as 0°C (32°F), may indicate a potential hardware issue.
- Repeated PoE Initialization: Frequent PoE configuration reinitialization events may suggest abnormal PoE hardware behavior.
- Cloud Connection Errors: Repeated "Cloud Netconf connection terminated" messages occurring alongside hardware abnormalities may indicate a hardware-related connectivity issue.
Recommended Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1: Verify Network Connectivity
Confirm that the switch has a stable Internet connection and that its DNS settings are configured correctly.
Step 2: Collect the Tech Support File
If the issue persists, please collect the Tech Support File from the affected switch and provide it to Zyxel Support for further analysis.
Our support team will review the diagnostic information to determine whether the issue is related to network connectivity or potential hardware abnormalities.
Step 3: Hardware Replacement (RMA)
If a hardware failure is confirmed, Zyxel Support will assist you with the appropriate RMA process.
Note
If the issue is caused by a hardware malfunction, such as a faulty PoE daughter board, changing DNS settings (e.g., 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1) will not resolve the intermittent offline issue.
We recommend contacting Zyxel Support with the Tech Support File before proceeding with further troubleshooting or hardware replacement.
