Hi community

I am struggling with the configuration of a NWA1123-AC that should act as a repeater. I use the NWA1123-AC in my garage to provide good wifi-coverage for smart home actors, no need of super-fast speed.

NWA1123-AC
In repeater mode on 2.4Ghz
Profile1 = SSID name of the ones it should repeat
SecProfile 1 = password of the SSID it should repeat
AP doesnt connect with Root-AP, LED blinks orange

Repeater settings:
Root MAC: MAC-Address of NWA1123-AC v2

NWA1123-AC v2
configured via Nebula, smart-mesh enabled
no MAC-filtering activated for test-purposes

What am I doing wrong? I've searched across the internet but could not find the reason why its not working.

Kind regards

Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

The NWA1123-AC is used the MAC of the root to find a root for building up the mesh. However, the NWA1123-ACv2 is built the mesh via the WDS profile with SSID and the password. Because they use different system to build up the mesh, they can't connect.
So, we recommend to add the other NWA1123-ACv2 or other models supported Nebula to extend the signal. The smart mesh can be supported by all Nebula AP models and they can connect to each other when they are in the same site.
    Thanks.

    Hi there,

Sorry but quick question about the repeater mode as it's not clear. A single NWA1123-AC-v2 can't be a repeater/Range-extender of a router provided by an internet provider?
Tried this setup this morning and it's not working.
    Thanks

    Hi @darxmurf ,

Yes, the WDS or smart mesh of the NWA1123-ACv2 can only compatible with the Zyxel APs with the same technical, so it's not able to be a repeater of a router. So, if you want to extend the signal via NWA1123-ACv2, you may connect one AP to the router via the wired cable to be a root AP and the other AP to be a repeater with only power connected.
    Hope it's helpful.
